Kowalski » 9 April 2020 17:47 L’histoire n’est certes pas nouvelle puisqu’elle fait suite à plusieurs adaptations du récit d’Henry James (Le Corrupteur de Michael Winner, Les Autres d’Alejandro Amenabar, etc.). Outre un casting hyper sexy, Mackenzie Davis (Halt & Catch Fire), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) et Joely Richardson (Nip/Tuck), c’est la photographe clipeuse hype électro/rock Floria Sigismondi (Marilyn Manson, David Bowie) qui réalise ici son deuxième long (après le très bon The Runaways). Hélas, l’entreprise patine un brin, malgré une direction artistique ad hoc et de bons jumpscares, l’horreur trash peine à advenir... comme si toute représentation un peu tangible du mal risquait de (cor)rompre le mystère. 3 sur 5.
